Oat WrapIt® Mix Uses and Recipes

Storage of Dry Mix:

Always keep the WrapIt® mix dry. Small amounts of moisture decrease shelf life and may cause mold to grow. Store sealed in its packaging in a cool dry place. Do not measure with a wet measuring spoon.

PILL WRAP MIX INSTRUCTIONS: (Makes 1 batch)

Recipe:

3 teaspoons Oat WrapIt® mix

1/2 teaspoon water

Mix and knead until the dough forms. The dough should be the consistency of Play-Doh®

Too Dry: If the dough is too dry or crumbly add a drop or two of water.

Too Sticky: If the dough is too sticky, allow it to sit for two minutes and re-knead. If it is still sticky add a small amount of the dry pill mix.

One batch makes enough dough to wrap 1-2 capsules or 3-4 tablets (based on sizes of Greenies® Allergen Pill Pockets).

USE INSTRUCTIONS:

Pinch off a small amount of dough and wrap around the pill. It is best to only make the amount of dough you will use in 2 or 3 days.

Storage of Dough:

The mixed dough can be stored at room temperature in a sealed bag or container for up to 2-3 days. Dough may also be refrigerated in a sealed bag or container for up to 5 days. Remoisten refrigerated dough by kneading in a few drops of water.

If dough has mold or a noxious odor, do not use it!

ALTERNATE USES FOR WRAPIT® MIX:

Soft Training Treats:

Recipe:

9 teaspoons Oat WrapIt® mix

1 1/2 teaspoons water

Mix and knead until the dough forms. Roll into ½ inch balls and use raw within 1 day or bake.

If baking squish the balls with the back of a spoon to about ¼ inch thick.

Bake at 350°F for 3-5 minutes.

Store cooled treats in a sealed bag or container and use within 3 to 5 days. 

Do not use dough or treat if it smells bad or has mold on it.

Flavor Bland Dog Food:

Dry:  Sprinkle some of the dry mix on your pet’s food.  Sometimes this is enough to entice your pet to eat bland dog food.

2 teaspoons water

Mix and let sit for 1-2 minutes to thicken and pour over dog food and mix in.

Sticky like Peanut Butter for Hiding Pills or Distracting Your Pet

Recipe:

3 teaspoons dry Oat WrapIt® mix

1 teaspoon water

Mix until it is the texture and stickiness of peanut butter.  Some pets take pills better if the dough is sticky.

Peanut butter is often used on a spoon or inside a Kong to distract your dog when you trying to clip nails, give shots, etc. Our dough mixed to be sticky can be used in the same way. It is commonly used in fear-free facilities.

Helpful Hints for Giving Pills to Dogs

Wrap the pills by completely covering them with dough when your pet is not watching. Offer wrapped pill to your pet before the pill begins to moisten.
